Kevin McKeever is mostly known as a director of photography and owner of the production company Image Generation (www.image-generation.com). Local writers and producers also know him as a freelance story consultant with seven years of professional experience in Los Angeles for major production companies, including Disney Pictures and Television, A Band Apart (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs), Village Roadshow (The Matrix trilogy), and many other companies. He has written analysis for over 1700 screenplays, as well as development notes for such major motion pictures as Shanghai Knights (Jackie Chan, Owen Wilson), The Miracle (Kurt Russell), Open Range (Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall) and Calendar Girls (Helen Mirren). These development notes were key in shaping successive drafts of the screenplays. He has guest lectured on screenplay analysis to college and university film programs in the U.S. and U.K., and has also worked for hire as an analyst for the local McKnight Fellowship (organized through IFP/North). He is a member of IATSE Local 700, the Editors and Story Analysts Guild.
Kevin helps screenwriters and independent producers by providing consultations and development notes on screenplays, treatments and manuscripts, exactly as he did for major studios and production companies. The feedback critiques the premise, plot, characters, dialogue, writing style, and any other pertinent aspect. Clients receive detailed professional advice on what components of their screenplay are well constructed, what needs improvement, and insights and suggestions for making those improvements. If you know your script could be better but you're struggling to figure out how, a professional consultation will answer your questions.
