Acting for Directors
Starts April 6
6 sessions: Thursdays, April 6–May 18 (no class April 20), 7–9 pm
This six-session workshop provides both novice and experienced directors with an introductory glimpse into the acting craft and how actors approach productions. It includes casting, script analysis, rehearsals, improvisation and scene study. Participants are expected to act in some basic scenes and work with guest actors. This hands-on workshop will help directors learn to gain an actor’s trust and achieve compelling performances.

Bill Cooper has been involved with the video, television and film business in the Twin Cities primarily as an actor for 25 years. He has a degree in Mass Communications from St. Cloud (MN) State University and studied acting at The Actors Studio in Minneapolis. Bill’s acting credits include a dozen short and feature films, 150 television commercials and hundreds of industrial, corporate, print, and voice-over projects.
Bill has produced and directed dozens of video projects for clients including Cub Foods, Verilux, Brookstone Stores, Green Lake School, Department of Community Health, and RealHealth TV.
After producing/directing numerous short films, Bill directed his first feature film in 2009 entitled HUNTING BUDDIES that is being distributed domestically and internationally by FilmWorks Entertainment.
Class Registration Guidelines & Cancellation Policy
- Space is assigned on a first-come basis. Registrations must include payment in full to be valid. Registrations are accepted beyond registration deadlines as long as space is available.
- If minimum enrollment has not been reached by 5 days prior to the start date of a class, IFP MN may cancel it, in which case registrants will immediately be notified and receive a full refund by PayPal or charge card credit (for phone or in person credit card registrations) within 5 business days. A check will be issued for registrations that were paid in cash. In lieu of a refund, students have the option of applying their tuition to another course if scheduled in the same calendar year.
For those wishing to cancel a registration prior to the class registration deadline, 100% of the tuition will be refunded minus a $25 administrative fee. For registration cancellations received after the registration deadline but prior to the first class session, 50% of the tuition will be refunded minus a $25 administrative fee. As of a class start date, no refunds or credits/exchanges will be given.
- Tuition is not prorated for missed class sessions.
